Alien 3 vs. Alien Resurrection
The first helped define the space/sci-fi/horror genre. I saw "Alien" - In space no one can hear you scream - in high school. A bunch of us went after school one afternoon after having gotten high in the park. Back in those days, movies came out without much advance publicity. The advance for "Alien" was some eerie cracked egg with a green glow coming from within and the tag line for the movie. That was all you'd see in previews or on TV.
Suffice to say, going into the movie stoned and not knowing what to expect, we got our money's worth...
The second one was a much anticipated sequel with a huge budget. Plus, everyone knew what they were getting into.
So what's the deal with number 3 and 4? I think Sigourney Weaver wrote those herself (I remember reading somewhere that she produced one or the other herself). And I also recall reading she wasn't happy with one or the other and decided on a do-over. Whatever.
I just finished watching "Alien Resurrection" and all I could think about was how cool it would be for a girl-on-girl scene with Winona Ryder. It looked close a couple of times...Damn...
