3 games to go...

yankees clinch.jpgWith just 3 games remaining in the season, the Yankees are keeping it interesting.  With tonight's win over Tampa Bay and Boston's loss to Minnesota, the Yanks are now 2 games out with 3 to play.  Though unlikely, it's still mathematically possible to take over first...

Phil Hughes matched Scott Kazmir (AL strikeout leader as of tonight.  Hey Omar, what were you thinking?) in a tautly pitched game garnering the win after Kazmir was pulled before the beginning of the 7th.  Scoring 2 runs in the top of the frame, the Yankees went on to win with another outstanding performance from "Get a Joba" Chamberlain.

Boston's got to be feeling the hot breath on the neck as the Yanks continue to bear down with the best record in baseball since the end of May.

And this while favorite son Willie Randolph has to suffer through the Mets self-destructing.  Another loss tonight combined with a Phillies win puts the teams tied for first in the NL East with 3 to play.  Painful to watch.
